These are the quiet months. People are at their cottages and many have already bought their books for summer reading. However, things are less quiet for me!
I was invited to write a chapter for an academic book. It’s taking a lot of time; it’s now been almost eight years since I graduated with a PhD, and I’m finding that I need to do lots of reading and research to bring myself up-to-date.
I’m getting ready for lots of memoir related events that will be happening in late August and September – check the ‘Events and Media’ page of this website. Doreen Barnes of the Friends of the Brockville Library has been wonderful. She organised the library talk in Brockville this spring and has emailed most libraries in Ontario about getting me to come as a speaker. As a result of her work, I’ve been contacted by quite a few of them. She also interviewed me on Cogeco TV in Brockville for a series called Readers’ Corner. I’ll soon post a link to the interview.
In in between all of the other goings on, I’m starting on my next book….there will be no hints about it for a long time though!
